So I don’t even know where to start! As you can see from all the photos there has been a lot happening and too much to recall here. Yet again the photos tell the story but a summary is: We have paths, an upper deck with temporary ply in preparation for the scaffold (we now have scaffolding!), the timber trusses are up and we have an big attic space, we have bracing ply on the outside. We also built some platforms so we can reach the high spaces safely. Smithy has been back on several occasions to keep us on track help with the tricky stuff as well as keeping up his frequent flyer status at the (Formerly) Blackball Hilton. This last week we have got the steel purlins up with the help of Smithy and a welcome Hiab (they aren’t light).
We also now have a road crossing after a year of waiting. We can now drive into our drive without bouncing up over the kerb, we can back a trailer in without having to setup blocks of wood and Margie can finally park her car in the drive.. Sometimes it is the small things that have the biggest impact.
In between building we have fitted in numerous ambulance callouts (Al is now a First Responder so together we are the A Team and have attended 29 callouts since January) and also some paid ambulance work for me in between.
Neil once again has been hard at work over the last few months helping us with the building. And with his trusty sidekick Dianne they have been camped up in their caravan since early January with the occasional visit home to check all is well. The weather has been pretty damn good overall and it has only been recently where we have seen some serious rain. But with the rain have been some spectacular thunder and lightening storms.
Al took the opportunity to organise the Fire Brigade training on a two storey house. They had fun accessing the upper level and practicing getting the hoses up. Bonus was we have a very clean floor now :).
Getting the roof on is a next big milestone and that is what we are working towards. Lots of intricate work to make sure everything is ready. Currently the target is the first week in April but also we are realistic and not rushing for the sake of it.

Wow – you 2 are amazing! How do you do it, & 29 calls as well – more than Darf

. Hope you got some exciting ones. We’re going to Greymouth/Hokitika 10/11 April as part of the Tour of NZ if you will be nearby then? Be nice to see you for coffee if possible
